GENOCIDE AGAINST AZERBAIJANIS MUST BE RECOGNIZED INTERNATIONALLY
A commemoration ceremony on the occasion of the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis has taken place at the Baku State University. Opening the ceremony the BSU Rector, NASA corresponding member Abel Maharramov told of murderous deeds committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in spring 1918 in Baku, Shamakha, Guba, Lankaran, Ganja, Zangazur, in particular by Stepan Shaumian and his accomplices who pursued a dashnak policy under the mask of communists. As a result, over 70 thousand innocent people were killed and hundreds of settlements destroyed. “All these actions have received political and legal assessment only after our nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev signed the Decree “On genocide of Azerbaijanis”, the Rector stressed.
In his report entitled “Chimera on “Great Armenia” and policy of genocide against Azerbaijanis” BSU Prof. Seyidaga Onullahi stressed that Armenians committed massacre not only in the north but also in the south of Azerbaijan - in Khoi, Salmas and Urmiya killing over 300 thousand Azerbaijanis.
BSU student Anar Isgandarov delivered a report “Turkic-Muslim genocide in the Western Azerbaijan in 1918-1920” in which he mentioned that 94 photos shot by foreign correspondents in Baku on April 2, 1918 were sent to the Paris peace conference. “Unfortunately, we have failed so far to get back those photos,” he noted.
Then, audience heard genocide-related reports by the BSU students.
