GOLDEN MINBAR FILM FESTIVAL DUE IN KAZAN
Baku, 17 August (AZERTAC). The Fifth International Golden Minbar (Golden Pulpit) Muslim Film Festival will take place in Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, from September 30 through October 4, 2009. The festival will feature 34 films including 12 full-length, 14 documentaries and 8 short films. The Festival is billed as “From the dialogue of cultures to the culture of dialogue”. Films produced by Azerbaijani filmmakers will also be submitted to the Festival.
In 2005 Kazan played host to the first Golden Minbar film festival. At this festival “The magician” drama by Azerbaijani director Ogtay Mirgasimov was awarded the main prize, while special prize was given to Vladimir Khotinenko (Russia) for his film “Moslem”.
