Baku, June 20, AZERTAC
The importance of transport routes passing through the Central Asia, Caspian Sea and Caucasus has increased even more. Azerbaijan pays special attention to diversification and modernization of its transport infrastructure and promotes a number of transport infrastructure projects to strengthen trade and logistics between Europe and Asia, said Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, as he addressed the Caspian Connectivity Conference organized by the Caspian Policy Center.
The minister also emphasized that Azerbaijan was an active initiator and reliable partner in the implementation of a number of other regional coordination projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and Trans-Caucasus fiber-optic cable projects.
Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the wind energy potential in Azerbaijan's part of the Caspian Sea, and in this regard, about the possible ways of exporting electricity to Europe. He mentioned the "Azerbaijan Digital Hub" project, which envisages the creation of the "Digital Silk Way", a digital corridor aimed at creating a new connection route between Asia and Europe.
