Malaysia has ordered North Korean diplomats to leave the country in retaliation for Pyongyang's severing of diplomatic ties with Kuala Lumpur, according to NHK WORLD.
In a statement released through the state-run Korean Central News Agency on Friday, North Korea accused the Malaysian authorities of handing over a North Korean national to the US in connection with alleged money laundering. The North called the move a hostile act and declared that it was cutting diplomatic relations with Malaysia.
The Malaysian government released a statement later in the day, denouncing the North's act as "unfriendly and unconstructive." It ordered all North Korean diplomats and their family members to leave the country within 48 hours.
