Open burning at gunpowder plant in Russia’s Ryazan extinguished

Open burning at a gunpowder plant in Russia’s Ryazan Region has been extinguished, the press service of the Emergencies Ministry told TASS on Friday.

"At 09:31 a.m. (Moscow Time), open burning has been put out on an area of 160 square meters," the press service said, noting that the fire had been localized.

The emergencies ministry pointed out that the fire was preceded by a blast caused by a disruption in the technological process.

According to the emergencies ministry, the fire broke out at 08:22 a.m. (Moscow Time) in the Lesnoye village, Shilovsky District, in one of the workshops of the Elastic gunpowder plant. As a result, some ten people have become victims, seven of them have died, while the fate of nine people remains unknown.
