POLITICAL SITUATION IN GEORGIA DISCUSSED

A sitting of CIS Foreign Ministers took place on November 25 in Kiev. Azerbaijan was represented at the forum by Minister of Foreign Affairs Vilayat Guliyev. The sitting was focused on the last developments in Georgia and positions of CIS countries towards the situation in this country.

In his address, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan expressed official Baku’s anxiety about the political situation in friendly Georgia. V. Guliyev stressed that Georgia is not only a good neighbor to Azerbaijan, where 500 thousand Azerbaijanis reside but also its strategic partner, and that the countries are jointly implementing huge international projects. The Minister noted that Azerbaijan is not indifferent to Georgia’s destiny and ready to render help to the friendly country and fraternal nation in adjustment of the socio-political situation.

The sitting participants adopted a joint statement urging political forces in Georgia to act within the constitution and do their best to stabilize the political situation in the country.
