PREMIERE OF TELEFILM ABOUT GENERAL ISMAIL BEY GUTGASHENLI DUE
Ismail Bey, son of the last Sultan of the Kutgashen Sultanate Nasrullah, in 1822 has graduated from the cadet school and served in Georgia as lieutenant of the Special Caucasus Corps. Later, he became participant of the wars, including the Russo-Turkish and Russo-Iranian wars. In 1832, I. Gutgashenly (earlier Gutgashenksky) has served in Warsaw, in 1850, being in Warsaw, was conferred the rank Major General of the tsarist army, and in a year, retired and returned to the Motherland. Gutgashenly was Member of the Russian Empire Geographic Society and member of the Caucasus Agricultural Society.
It has to be mentioned that the Azerbaijani general was a creative person and he was even considered founder of one of the literary genres – Azerbaijani story. The first Azerbaijani story was written by Ismail Bey Gutgashenly and in 1835 for the first time was published in French in France titled as “Rashid bey and Saadat Khanum”, the film shooters told AzerTAj.
At words of the film director Elshan Zeynalov, the spectators can watch some episodes form this story as well. Ismail Bey is also considered one of the founders of the enlightenment realistic literature.
Life of Gutgashenly was ended tragically. In 1869, he was traveling to Gabala from Mecca via Istanbul and during the meal was poisoned by a waiter of Armenian national. They say it was not causal. So, according to the historical materials, since 1855 the tsarist special services persecuted him. Passing via Istanbul, Gutgashenly met several top officers of the Turkish Army, and it was enough to lose trust of the Tsar. Grave of Gutgashenly is in the Sultanbaba graveyard in Gabala.
In the telefilm, Nazim Rza Israfiloglu performs the part of Ismail Bey. The screenwriter is Yagub Alioglu and director is Adil Abbasov. The film has been shot in “Azerbaijantelefilm” Studio.
