SLIGHT PRICE FALL OF 0.5% NOTED IN JUNE COMPARED WITH MAY IN AZERBAIJAN
This June prices of commodities in Azerbaijan slightly fell by 0.5% compared with the month of May. According to the Statistics Committee, compared with the months of January-June 2002, the overall level of prices in the current half-year had increased by 2.1%.
Foodstuff in the month of June was cheaper by 0.7% compared with the preceding month of May, but on the backdrop of the same period of 2002 had increased by 3.1%. The prices of meat and meat products in June dropped by 1.7%, fruits and vegetables - by 4.3%, dairy products and eggs - 2.2%. For oils and fats, prices rather increased by 0.6%, while sugar, tea, coffee and ingredients saw slightly higher increases of 3.5%.
The price of nonfoods and services in June fell by 0.1%, but increased by 0.5%, when considered from the viewpoint of prices for the same period of 2002.
The least price indexes in the regions of the country were in Ganja (99.1%) with Nakhchivan with the highest of 100.5%.
