THE ORDER OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN ON THE ENHANCEMENT OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE AZERBAIJANI STATE TELEGRAPH AGENCY (AzerTAC)
In the course of recent years, speedy social-economic and democratic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan and rising image of our country at international level defined new challenges for mass media. At this contemporary period with significant changes in global information network and wider use of the newest information technologies, timely delivery of objective information about Azerbaijan to the international community and comprehensive reporting of our society about developments taking place in the world require a set of hands-on measures to be undertaken for fostering the activities of mass media.
Taking into account the particular importance of the Azerbaijani State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAC) in timely and flexible dissemination of information about the Republic of Azerbaijan and providing full data to our society about events occurring in the world, I take the decision to enhance the activities of the said Agency:
1. Raise the number of correspondent offices of the Azerbaijani State Telegraph Agency in foreign countries;
2. Establish Multimedia and Video Services section under the Chief Editorial Board of Foreign Languages of the Azerbaijani State Telegraph Agency;
3. Ensure additionally German, French and Arab language editions of the Azerbaijani State Telegraph Agency’
4. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan should fulfill the following obligations within two months:
4.1. Ensure logistical support and finance to the correspond offices to be created in line with Item 1 of the present Order, the activities of the established multimedia and video services in accordance with Item 2 and new editions in foreign languages defined in Item 3;
4.2. Determine the maximum number of employees of the Azerbaijani State Telegraph Agency;
4.3. Undertake necessary measures to allocate a relevant terrain to construct a new administrative building of the Azerbaijani State Telegraph Agency;
4.4. Solve other issues stemming out from the present Order.
