Baku, July 24, AZERTAC
The Israeli Embassy in Azerbaijan, in close partnership with the “Tamiz Dunya” Women Support Public Union, marked the completion of renovation works at the “Rehabilitation and Reintegration Center for Victims of Gender-Based Violence.” The renovation was supported by the Embassy as part of its ongoing commitment to social welfare and community development.
The event on July 24 was attended by Ambassador George Deek of Israel and his spouse Anna Deek together with Hijran Huseynova, Member of Parliament and Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Affairs and Tunzala Verdiyeva, Head of the Department for the Organization of Mobile and Semi-Stationary Social Services at Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“This center is not just a shelter as our initiative was to create a place of healing and new beginnings. The Friendship Room, with its colors, books, and toys, is a space of joy, learning, and inspiration. It reflects what we hope every child here will feel: that they are not forgotten, that they matter, and that there is a future full of possibilities ahead of them,” said Ambassador George Deek.
Chairwoman of the Center Mehriban Zeynalova expressed her appreciation to the Ambassador and the State of Israel for their steadfast support over the years. She highlighted the thoughtful contributions and their positive impact on the children’s well-being and future.
Following the inauguration, the Ambassador and his spouse Anna Deek presented developmental toys and books for children of various age groups residing in the shelter. They also toured the newly renovated sections of the facility, engaging with staff and gaining insight into the day-to-day operations of the Center.
The Friendship Room stands as a symbol of solidarity, support, and continued partnership between the Embassy and the communities it serves.
