Alsou gets Artist of World title

Baku, July 9 (AZERTAC). Russian pop singer Alsu has won the UNESCO`s Artist of the World title that will be bestowed on her at a July 7 ceremony in Paris. Alsu, who came just one slot shy of winning the 2000 Eurovision song contest, co-chairs a charity foundation which helps victims of natural disasters and epidemics.

The UNESCO Artist of the World title is awarded to musicians, actors and painters for cementing cultural ties between nations. The current holders of the honorary title are, among others, singers Celine Dion, Shirley Bassey and French crooner and composer Georges Moustaki.
