Q: Pre-electoral campaign has started in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani citizens studying in Turkey, citizens on trip to Turkey and so on, how are they going to vote?

A: Like always. During these elections as well as during previous one, citizens of Azerbaijan living abroad, studying abroad, etc. will be fully provided with their constitutional right to vote. On the day of elections, citizens of Azerbaijan residing in Turkey will have an opportunity to vote at the Embassy in Anakara and Consulate General in Istanbul. The voters can get this information on TV, newspapers and Internet. Taking into account my previous experience, I can say, that the Central Electoral Commission will send us information about contenders and their programs, placards, etc. Therefore, we have materials to submit to people coming to the Embassy and Consulate General. Currently we make up the register of voters. .

Q: Mr. Ambassador, The oppositional press pays a “special” attention to you. How can you explain this fact?

A: Yes, I am blackmailed by people saying that they are journalists but, in fact, they are ordinary terrorists. They write lies in their publications. For example, they are trying to accuse me with the fact that I was not inquiring about conditions of the last Elchibey, when he underwent treatment in Gulhane Medical Academy.

However, they do not know that me, at the assignment of President Heydar Aliyev met with doctors and asked about Elchibey’s conditions many times. When Elchibey died, our President sent a special aircraft, etc.

They are just trying to discredit the ruling authorities. We offer them to put forward their ideas to show their advantages in front of the authorities. However, they have nothing to show, because they do not have enough of experience, wide outlook and so on.

The way that they have chosen is the way of creating anarchy in the country, gathering to the meeting and shouting, visiting foreign embassies in Baku and complaining. Sometimes they stop insulting individuals and start criticizing foreign states, USA one day, another day - Turkey.

I say again, they are media terrorists, people wishing to violate stability, to create opposition. I believe that our people will respond them properly.
