Apple Authorized Training Center project at BEU nearing completion

Baku, April 1, AZERTAC

A meeting was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) with a delegation led by Fariz Jafarov, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4SIM) under the Ministry of Economy.

Speaking at the meeting, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev provided information on the key targets outlined in the university’s Strategic Development Program, as well as the reforms implemented in recent years. It was noted that significant steps have been taken to improve the quality of education, expand scientific research activities, and strengthen international relations. Consistent efforts have also been made to enhance the material and technical base, with the establishment of modern laboratories, the upgrading of educational infrastructure, and the provision of advanced technological resources for students. Additionally, within the framework of training highly qualified specialists, dual degree programs have been implemented in 15 fields of study in cooperation with universities in China and South Korea, and six programs have received international accreditation. Furthermore, BEU has been ranked among the top 1000 universities globally and the top 400 in Europe in the QS rankings, and has also been included in the “QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026” in two subject categories, reflecting the university’s growing international reputation.

The rector also highlighted 4SIM’s close cooperation with the World Economic Forum, noting that last year BEU became the first Azerbaijani university to receive content provider status on the Forum’s Strategic Intelligence platform, which enables access to global knowledge networks. Describing the university’s integration into global knowledge and analytical networks as a significant step, Yagub Piriyev expressed his gratitude to the leadership of 4SIM for their support. He added that the use of such tools has led to positive dynamics in the university’s scientific activities.

In his remarks, 4SIM Executive Director Fariz Jafarov delivered a comprehensive presentation on the institution’s activities and current initiatives, including projects related to the development of the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and industrial transformation in the country. Attention was drawn to the important steps taken by 4SIM, in close cooperation with the World Economic Forum, to implement advanced international practices in Azerbaijan, as well as to upcoming activities within the framework of the digital economy development strategy. It was also noted that human capital development is one of the priority areas under the “National Program.” Comprehensive measures are currently being implemented to enhance digital skills, train qualified specialists in modern technologies, and develop competencies aligned with labor market demands.

During the meeting, the active participation of BEU students and staff in 4SIM’s “National Program” was highlighted. It was reported that nearly 1,300 students and faculty members have successfully completed more than 3,800 international courses on the Coursera platform.

The meeting continued with discussions on cooperation opportunities in the implementation of innovations in higher education, digital transformation, and training specialists in line with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It was noted that the project to establish an Apple Authorized Training Center at BEU, coordinated by 4SIM, is nearing completion. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to certify university-appointed instructors by Apple, organize training on “App Development with Swift,” and enhance students’ skills in developing applications for the App Store. Currently, six instructors from BEU are involved in the project, two of whom have already obtained Apple trainer certification. A dedicated space has been allocated for the training center, and the next stage will include curriculum integration and the organization of an opening ceremony. The meeting also focused on initiatives related to human capital development, including the organization of training sessions for students on cryptocurrency, Web3, and blockchain technologies, as well as the establishment of a “Student Blockchain Club” at BEU.

Following the meeting, the delegation toured BEU’s laboratories and Technopark, highly appreciating the existing facilities and innovative environment.
