ARMENIAN-TURKISH BORDERS WOULD NOT BE OPENED
In their statements, the ministers reported on discussions on ways to solve Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh , Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil, and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum gas pipeline projects.
Then, they responded to the question of media representatives. Foreign Minister of Turkey Abdullah Gul answered the question of AzerTAj correspondent:
Q: Turkey has always supported Azerbaijan. Recently this support has been once more expressed during the working visit of the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, meetings with president Ahmet Nejdet Sezer, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and you. However, as a rule, rumors and claims appear after such successful high-level visits. Defense Minister of Armenia Serj Sarkisiyan in an interview said that borders between Armenia and Turkey would soon be opened. What is your opinion on this issue?
A: It is contrary to the fact. We openly discussed Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in Madrid and it will be discussed in New York within a short time. And in my statement, I stressed that we want help solving the conflict. On condition of peace and security in the region we will have wealth and welfare.
