ASSEMBLY OF UNESCO GOODWILL AMBASSADORS HELD IN PARIS
On March 15, the annual assembly of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors took place in headquarters of UNESCO.
Prior to beginning of assembly, the Director General UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura has once again congratulated Mehriban Aliyeva on election as the deputy of parliament of Azerbaijan. The UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors also have congratulated Mehriban Aliyeva and have wished successes in deputy activity.
Opening the action, the Director General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura has expressed gratitude to everyone who has sent to him congratulatory message on the occasion of re-election on this post, and has informed on the agenda of assembly. He dwelt on the work done in expired year in the field of culture, science and education, has noted direct participation of UNESCO in elimination of problems disturbing the world and has emphasized importance of continuation of cooperation in this sphere.
Having touched the work done by 30 Goodwill Ambassadors in the field of protection of cultural and universal heritage - one of main principles of UNESCO, the director general has noted special merits of the president of Fund of the Friends to Azerbaijan Culture Mehriban Aliyeva and has expressed her gratitude.
Then, the floor was given to Mehriban Aliyeva.

Dear Goodwill Ambassadors!
Ladies and gentlemen!
It is our first meeting after carrying out of the 60 anniversary of UNESCO. Within 60 years, the Organization served the highest ideas. For this period, it has received notable results, greater work has been is done, and reached successes in a lot of the important projects.
Mr. Matsuura, let me once again cordially congratulate You on UNESCO’s 60 anniversary and wish the whole UNESCO family success in development of education, culture and science, and in strengthening of constructive dialogue among numerous cultures and civilizations”.
Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva reminded visit of the UNESCO delegation to Azerbaijan, led by the Director General. She expressed gratitude to Goodwill Ambassadors for such a representative delegation and discussion of the problems of education in Azerbaijan.
Then she spoke of the activity of the Mugham Center in Azerbaijan, on the activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation she leads, on the projects the Foundation is implementing. Mehriban Aliyeva, in particular, noted that a UNESCO working group had arrived in Azerbaijan to render assistance to the education problems of the refugee and IDPs children.
President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation also informed on the latest events and festivals the Organization conducted in the Republic, and wished further successes to her colleagues.
UNESCO Director General received Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva and interested in ongoing processes in Azerbaijan.
