AT CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION
A regular sitting of the Central Election Commission /CEC/ presided by Mazahir Panahov took place on July 6. According to the CEC’s press-service, the commission considered the candidature of Mr. Sadikhov Chingiz Damir oglu nominated by the ‘Yeni Azerbaijan’ Party for upcoming Presidential election.The CEC Secretary Vidadi Makhmudov announced that as the documents submitted by the nominee were in full compliance with requirements of the Election Code, the Commission had decided to approve Sadikhov Chingiz Damir oglu as a candidate to the post of President of the Republic Azerbaijan.Secretary Inglab Nasirov let the commission members know that the candidacy of Mr. Agayev Rufat Agababa oglu had been rejected because the documents submitted by him to the CEC did not meet the requirements of the Law.During the sitting, the commission heard report by its member Ilham Mammadov on a number of appeals to the CEC concerning the election: it was decided to send the relevant documents to the General Prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Azerbaijan for close consideration. The Commission as well approved graphic presentations and seal texts for election districts in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The sitting has been attended by representatives of International Fund for Electoral systems, local and foreign media.
