Azerbaijan, ADB explore social cooperation

Anar Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population, met with a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Christine Engstrom, Director General of the bank’s Sectors Department 3 (SD3).
During the meeting, Minister Aliyev highlighted the effective cooperation between the ministry and the ADB in labor, employment, and social protection, while also stressing the importance of joint projects implemented over the past period.
Anar Aliyev highlighted the positive outcomes achieved under the project “Enhancing ADB’s Support for Social Protection to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.”
He also underlined the importance of the Country Partnership Strategy for 2025–2029 in advancing cooperation with the ADB.
The Minister briefed the ADB officials on the success of recent social reforms in Azerbaijan, including the advantages of the DOST concept, the implementation of active employment programs, and the enhancement of workforce skills. He also highlighted the wide application of digital solutions in the social sector, recent amendments to labor legislation, and reforms within the mandatory health insurance system.
Christine Engstrom expressed the bank’s keen interest in continuing and fostering collaboration with the ministry. The meeting concluded with a review of potential opportunities for the implementation of new joint projects between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population and the ADB.
