AZERBAIJAN, CHINA: GOOD OPPORTUNITIES FOR DEVELOPMENT
In the message which received by AzerTAj from embassy, it is said that at press conference in which journalists of this country, and also Turkey, Russia and Kazakhstan have taken part, the responsible of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of China, our diplomat has declared that the People’s Republic of China is one of the first states which have recognized independence of the Azerbaijan Republic, and has noted that for the expired 12 years, the relations between two countries have reached a high level. The ambassador has emphasized that bases of interstate relations have been incorporated during official visit of the President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev to China in 1994. The negotiations carried out during this visit and the signed documents have defined prospects of the further cooperation.
Especially having emphasized absence of disagreements between our countries in political area, the ambassador has stated that China recognizes territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and is the supporter of unconditional clearing of the occupied grounds of Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan completely supports the principle of unity of China and as a bright example has resulted the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic from March 30, 2004, in connection with the presidential elections in Taiwan in March of this year.
Having touched on the intensively developing economic relations, ambassador Y. Aliyev has reminded, that since 2002, annual growth of commodity circulation is observed, and in 2003 approximately in 22 times export of Azerbaijan to China has increased. Having touched concrete economic projects, the diplomat has told that the oil companies of China carry out activity in Azerbaijan, are negotiated concerning realization by the Chinese company of building - regenerative works on Mingachevir and Sheki hydroelectric power stations of Azerbaijan, that China shows interest to transport corridor of TACECA and there are large opportunities for strengthening bilateral relations.
Cooperation extends also in humanitarian spheres. Now, 19 citizens of Azerbaijan are trained in higher educational institutions of China, and more than 100 citizens of China - in the Oil Academy of Azerbaijan.
Further, the Ambassador has especially emphasized mutual interests of business circles of our countries and has expressed confidence that forthcoming visit of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev to the People’s Republic of China would serve as a new pulse for development of mutual relations.
