Azerbaijan contributes to intercultural dialogue
The meeting was attended by Head of the Azerbaijan’s permanent mission to the Council of Europe Emin Eyyubov, head of the Council of Europe Baku office Dragana Filipovic, representatives of the State Committee on work with Religious Organizations and State Councilor’s Office.
The councilor told of the progress achieved in the country to deepen and develop intercultural dialogue, existing multicultural society in Azerbaijan, tolerant attitude towards other religions and cultures. He said President Ilham Aliyev is very sensitive to this area. As a result, the service of the State Councilor on multinational, multicultural and religious affairs was established.
The President of Azerbaijan also signed an order to create the Baku International Multiculturalism Center with an aim to protect tolerance and culture, religious and linguistic diversity, study existing multicultural models.
Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni hailed Azerbaijan’s cooperation at all levels with the Council of Europe, saying Azerbaijan contributes to the intercultural dialogue. She said that the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its President Mehriban Aliyeva are an example for multiculturalism.
