AZERBAIJAN-EU LINKS TO BE FURTHER DEVELOPED
Having warmly welcomed the guest the speaker said Azerbaijan attaches particular significance to development of links with all European structures including the European Union. This cooperation according to him plays important role in development of intergovernmental relations.
Touching upon the EU’s involvement in settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Murtuz Alasgarov said: We positively assess the proposal by the deputy of the European parliament Pierre Garton on release of the five regions of Azerbaijan in exchange for opening the rail road. This step could hasten the peaceful resolution of the problem. It is time for the world states to abandon policy of double standards and make their presence felt on the matter.
Having thanked the Speaker of the Azerbaijan Parliament for the warm reception, Antonius De Vries expressed satisfaction with the existing relationship between Azerbaijan and the European Union. He said “we attach special significance to the cooperation with Azerbaijan. And, therefore, after gaining independence the country has received considerable assistance from the Union.” The guest promised to do his best for further development of the EU-Azerbaijan links.
During the meeting, the parties have held an exchange of view on a number of other issues of mutual interests.
