AZERBAIJAN, INDIA: RELATIONS EXPANDING
Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament said: “The existing between our countries relations are increasingly developing, and in this cause an exclusive role played the heads of our states, as well as activity of Rajindru Madkhukara Abkhuankara in the period of his work as ambassador of India to Turkey and Azerbaijan, in the ministry of foreign affairs. Azerbaijan highly appreciates the position of India in the region and its role in the ongoing peace processes, and attaches particular importance to development of the relations with this country.
In the 15 October elections current year, worthy successor of the political course of our nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, first deputy chairman of the “Yeni Azerbaijan” Party Ilham Aliyev with the overwhelming majority was elected as President. The relations with India will be developed in the years ahead. Chairman of the Parliament stressed the low level of parliamentary links, underlining the necessity of developing cooperation in this field.
Then, Mr. Alasakarov updated the guest on the reforms conducted in Azerbaijan, impediments caused by Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and the role of Azerbaijan in peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Expressing his gratitude for warm reception, Mr. Rajindru Madkhukara Abkhuankara conveyed to Murtuz Alaskarov greetings and invitation of the Chairman of Indian Parliament Najmi Abdullah. The guest noted that his country is also keen in development of the relations with Azerbaijan. The Indian businessmen have invested in one of the plants near Ganja city of Azerbaijan, the executives also interest in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan. India wishes quick settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group and stands ready to render assistance in this cause.
The parties exchanged views on a number of other issues of mutual interest.
