AZERBAIJAN-NATO RELATIONS EXPANDING
The event was focused on the relations between NATO, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia, press-service of Foreign Affairs Ministry reports.
Azerbaijan was represented by head of the Department of Foreign Policy Planning and Strategic Studies of Foreign Affairs Ministry Ilgar Mammadov, who delivered a report on “ NATO-Azerbaijan relations”. He touched on the history of these relations, visit of ex-president Heydar Aliyev to Brussels in 1994, joining “ Partnership for peace” program, Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation in the framework of this program, Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, as well as role of NATO.
He held meetings with journalists of “Tribune”, “Rechpospolita”, “Viborcha” newspapers. The journalists were curios about the situation in Azerbaijan and foreign policy of the republic. Mr. Mammadov dwelt on the reforms being carried out in the republic, foreign investments and the process of democratization.
