AZERBAIJAN OIL EXPORT STRATEGY UNDER ELABORATION
“We will tray to create conditions for the export of the Azerbaijan oil through various routes to cost the same amount,” President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev told AzerTAj. According to him, putting into operation of the main export pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan will not impede the transportation of the Azerbaijan oil via Baku-Novorossiysk route. In 2005, the northern pipeline is expected to carry the same volume of oil as it was planned for the current year i.e. 2,5 million tons.
Now, transportation of 1 ton of the Azerbaijan oil through the Northern pipeline Baku-Novorossiysk costs $15,67, while via the Western route Baku-Supsa 5 times cheaper i.e. $3.
