Azerbaijan plays important role in realization of regional energy and transport projects, Mammadyarov
Baku, June 3 (AZERTAC). Visiting the United States, foreign minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov on June 2 met with the famous specialists on the Eurasian region - Mrs. Fiona Hill, director of the Brooking Institution`s Center for US and Europe, Cory Welt, Associate Director, Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies of the George Washington University, Thomas de Waal, senior associate with the Russia and Eurasia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Glen Howard, director of the Jamestown Foundation.
Mammadyarov noted that Azerbaijan pursues independent policy. The country plays important role in realization of regional cooperation, in particular the energy and transport projects. The Minister also gave comprehensive information on the negotiation process on settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
He noted Azerbaijan seeks a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2012-2013s scheduled for October current year and spoke of the priorities connected with the candidacy of country.
In meeting, also were exchanged views on regional and international questions.
