Azerbaijan successfully represented at Paris Arbitration Week
Paris, March 28, AZERTAC
Within the framework of the 10th Paris Arbitration Week, a conference titled "Development of Regional and International Arbitration in Azerbaijan and the Region" was held at the Cultural Center, jointly organized by the Azerbaijan and Turkish Arbitration Associations.
A total of 120 representatives from various countries attending Paris Arbitration Week discussed the development of arbitration in the construction sector and the improvement of the investment climate in the country.
Professor Kamala Mehdiyeva, President of the Azerbaijan Arbitration Association and Co-President of the Turkic Arbitration Association, highlighted that the association has actively participated in Paris Arbitration Week for four years. She stated that Azerbaijan is a favorable jurisdiction for arbitration, evidenced by the high level of recognition for arbitral awards and the low rate of challenges against them before the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan. It was noted that this pro-arbitration stance is reflected in the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan on arbitration, which includes a set of rules ensuring cooperation between state courts and arbitral proceedings, as well as provisions regarding interim measures of protection.
The conference emphasized the favorable nature of Azerbaijan's law on arbitration. It was underlined that with the establishment and operation of the Baku Arbitration Center, systematic efforts are being made to promote arbitration. Within this framework, arbitration programs are being implemented for members of the Azerbaijani Bar Association and state judges.
Paris Arbitration Week is considered the world's largest international arbitration event, bringing together thousands of arbitration professionals in Paris for one week every year. Azerbaijan's role in this event continues to grow annually.
