AZERBAIJAN, USA: RELATIONS EXPAND IN ALL FIELDS
Minister Abiyev noted quick development of relations between two countries in all fields. Military cooperation of the sides is developing in the frame of the NATO’s PfP Program, on the bilateral base. Azerbaijan appraises its relations with the United States and NATO as a component of common cooperation, he underlined.
Expressing gratitude for cordial reception, Mr. Jim MacDougall conveyed greetings and sincere wishes of the USA defense minister Donald Ramsfeld, saying that the government and people of the United States are grateful for support in global combat against terrorism. He also stressed existence of good prospects for cooperation between two countries.
‘We are on the eve of further improvement of our cooperation in the field of defense, security and economy”, Jim MacDougall said.
The US official assessed the continuation of cooperation with NATO in the frame of Individual Partnership Activity Plan as a great success for the country.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Minister Abiyev highly assessed the role of the United States as one of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
Colonel-general Safar Abiyev spoke of implementation of the Individual Partnership Activity Plan within schedule.
In meeting, the sides had comprehensive exchange of views on numerous aspects of bilateral cooperation, current military-political situation on the South Caucasus, as well as other questions of mutual interest.
The USA ambassador to Azerbaijan Ms. Anne Derse took part at meeting.
