Azerbaijan, WB discuss customs cooperation

Baku, August 14 (AZERTAC). Chairman of Azerbaijan`s State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev has met a delegation of the World Bank to discuss prospects for boosting the bilateral cooperation.

Aliyev highlighted the Committee`s activity. He said some payments are already carried out by plastic cards and information booths have been created in some customs units.

He touched upon Azerbaijan’s new Customs Code, saying it was developed with the help of the European Commission and UN Development Program.

Aliyev highlighted other measures to strengthen legislative framework.

Professor Simon Commander, a senior expert at the World Bank, stressed the necessity of intensifying contacts to develop the non-oil sector.

The expert said the World Bank is ready for any cooperation that would contribute to boosting Azerbaijan`s customs system.
