Azerbaijan, World Bank explore cooperation

Himalay Mamishov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Finance, met with representatives of the World Bank’s (WB) identification missions on the Competitive, Resilient Agricultural and Irrigation Services (CRAIS) and Livable Baku projects.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the WB’s support for the development of Azerbaijan’s agricultural and food sectors, the development and implementation of the CRAIS project, as well as preparations for the next stages of the Livable Baku project.
The Azerbaijani Deputy Finance Minister noted that long-term Azerbaijan–WB cooperation has contributed significantly to the country’s socio-economic development and shared his views on the modernization of agricultural and irrigation infrastructure, as well as Azerbaijan’s urban development progress.
Holger Kray, WB Regional Manager for Agriculture and Food in Europe and Central Asia, hailed fruitful cooperation with Azerbaijan, describing the projects in question as crucial for supporting Azerbaijan’s sustainable agriculture and urban development. In this regard, he stressed the importance of boosting institutional capacity and applying a results-oriented approach.
The meeting also addressed improving the implementation mechanisms of current projects and priority areas for the next stages.
