AZERBAIJANI BOXERS WIN FIRST ROUND
Two members of Azerbaijan team - boxers Javid Tagiyev and Ali Ismayilov held first bouts on 14 August. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev watched the game. It should be reminded that chief referee of the Olympic contests is President of Azerbaijan Boxing Federation Agajan Abiyev.
Javid Tagiyev, 75 kg, won Greece sportsman Georgios Gazis 32:31. In 1/8 final, he will meet with Thailand boxer. Having beaten Brazilian Silver Washington 27:22, Ali Ismayilov, 81kg, reached 1/8 final.
Another Azerbaijan boxer Ruslan Khairov, 69 kg succeeded on 15 August in the bout with Canadian Adam Trupesh 17:5. Unfortunately, other Olympians, swimmer Natalya Philina and judoist Elchin Ismayilov failed to make happy their fans. Natalya Philina, in 100m-breaststroke race, took 44th place among 48. Elchin Ismayilov lost the first combat and left the field.
