AZERBAIJANI EXPERTS TO VISIT GEORGIA
Chief of Department at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Transport, Sadraddin Mammadov, said a group of Azerbaijani experts would go to Georgia to get familiar with the state in the territories where the Baku-Tbilisi-Gars railway passes. He said the experts would submit their opinions and proposals to the working group in the Georgian side, as till 5 August, the opinions and proposals should be presented to the Turkish Yuksel Domanch company which is the author of the project.
S. Mammadov went on to say that the Turkish side is planning to finish the process of tender on the construction of the railway in its territory till the first part of August and to start its implementation in September.
The final document related to the BTG construction among Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey was signed on February of the current year in Tbilisi. Azerbaijan has allocated the Georgian company “Marabda-Kartsakhi Railways” a soft loan amounting to $ 220 millions for the construction of the railway in the territory of Georgia. Thanks to this grant, in the territory of Georgia a new road of 29 kilometers will be constructed and the old roads will be reconstructed.
