AZERBAIJANI-GERMAN TIES DEVELOP
Warmly welcoming the guests, the Chairman noted that Azerbaijani-German ties develop in the line of ascent. Stressing particularly the role of the Heads of States in development of the ties between Azerbaijan and Germany, Murtuz Alasgarov highly appreciated the investments of German businessmen into Azerbaijani economy, cooperation of MPs of both countries in the international organization, position of Germany towards Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Thanking for the warm welcome, head of the delegation Markus Lening noted that the key goal of the visit to Azerbaijan is to get acquainted with the country and plight of refugees and IDPs, discuss with Azerbaijani counterparts issues of mutual interest.
The guest, noting Germany’s position in respect of Nagorno Karabakh conflict said that Germany respects territorial integrity of the states and supports peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict in the frameworks of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Then Murtuz Alasgarov responded in details the guests’ questions related to the forthcoming presidential elections, and issues discussed during the PACE summer session.

The same day, the delegation met with the members of MM Azerbaijani-German inter-parliamentarian group of cooperation, headed by Jalal Aliyev. Nagorno Karabakh conflict and humanitarian assistance to Azerbaijan were discussed during the meeting.

Following was the meeting of the delegation with the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Committee for refugees and IDPs issues Ali Hasanov.
Ali Hasanov informed in details on history, reasons, and consequences of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He stated that Armenian’s neglect towards 4 resolutions of the UN Security Council and decisions of Lisbon Summit, adopted in connection with conflict settlement, and double standards existing in the world promote further provocations of the instigators of this conflict. Referring to humanitarian assistance, rendered to Azerbaijani refugees, Ali Hasanov said that German humanitarian organization “DIAPONI” had rendered aid to Azerbaijan USD4 million. A number of German organizations constructed 10 settlements for refugees and IDPs in different regions of Azerbaijan. Ali Hasanov thanked for this aid and expressed his hope for its further continuation.
Head of the delegation Markus Lening thanking for the warm welcome said that the delegation would also meet the IDPs, settled in Sabirabad and Imishli regions of Azerbaijan. The guest also noted that humanitarian assistance to Azerbaijan would be further continued. Other issues of mutual interest were discussed as well.
