AZERBAIJANI NGO URGES US PRESIDENT NOT TO SIGN DOCUMENT ON AID TO NAGORNO-KARABAKH
Baku, December 21 (AZERTAC). “Recognition of Khojaly Genocide” NGO has sent a message to US President Barack Obama, Department of State, Congress and embassy to Azerbaijan over allocation of $8 million in foreign direct aid to separatist Armenian regime in Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to the message, Armenia`s military aggression against Azerbaijan in 1988-1994 drove over a million people from their homes and resulted in damaging cultural monuments and occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani lands. The message stressed Azerbaijanis suffered genocide during Khojaly developments on February 26, 1992 with committers of genocide still going unpunished.
“The Azerbaijan public wants to make sure that President Barack Obama will not sign this decision. We believe you and US government will step up your efforts towards soonest and peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and returning of Azerbaijani internally displaced persons to Nagorno-Karabakh,” message says.
