Azercosmos showcases geospatial information system capabilities in Antalya

Azercosmos is participating in the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Antalya, Türkiye.
Held under the theme “The World Needs More Space,” the congress brings together scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, academics, and students from around the world to discuss the future of space exploration, sustainable space development, international cooperation, innovative technologies, and the strategic role of space in society.
Dunay Badirkhanov, Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of Azercosmos, addressed the 3rd Global Space Leaders Summit, highlighting the role of space technologies in addressing global challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, food and water security, and environmental degradation.
He emphasized the importance of turning satellite data into timely, reliable, and accessible information for decision-making, noting Azercosmos’ Earth observation and GIS capabilities. He also highlighted the use of satellite imagery, advanced analytics, and AI in disaster management, agriculture, environmental monitoring, infrastructure planning, and climate resilience, as well as digital solutions such as FarmerApp, Platerra, and WebGIS.
The IAF Global Space Leaders Summit brought together space agency leaders from nearly 50 countries to exchange expertise, showcase innovative projects, and discuss future cooperation.
The congress also features the 80-member National Scientific Team of Azercosmos’ SPACE Academy, whose members are presenting their research to an international audience. Azerbaijan ranked second among 108 countries, with 814 scientific papers submitted to the 77th International Astronautical Congress.
The event also showcases a thermal vacuum chamber (TVAC) developed by Azercosmos engineers for ground testing of space equipment, highlighting the role of space technologies in sustainable development, disaster risk reduction, and societal well-being.
