AZERI-RUSSIAN INTER-GOVERNMENTAL TALKS HELD
Heads of the government had a one-on-one meeting, after which they met at presence of delegations.
“For Azerbaijan - Russia is the strategic partner and the relations between two countries develop in this spirit”, stressed the head of the Azerbaijan government. He has emphasized, that the important factor in strengthening cooperation of two countries are frequent meetings of presidents Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, and also contacts on interdepartmental level. According to Artur Rasizade, the intergovernmental economic commission carries out its activity successfully.
The Prime Minister of Azerbaijan has produced figures testifying to dynamics of the Azeri-Russian economic relations. So, if the volume of goods turnover in 2005 has grown in comparison with 2004 for 29 percent, the current year the figure is expected to reach 50 percent.
Speaking of the accomplishments of Azerbaijan, Mr. Rasizade said the growth of GDP has made 36 percent. He also noted scale of the projects being implemented in the country.
In turn, Mikhail Fradkov has emphasized, that the agreements reached during meetings of two presidents, are successfully carried out, and the task of the Russian government is support of business contacts to the Azerbaijan colleagues. He has highly assessed the contacts of two countries actively developing in all spheres. According to the Russian Prime Minister, it is necessary to make active mutually advantageous cooperation in black and nonferrous metallurgy, in the field of mechanical engineering and high technologies.
The Russian Prime Minister has emphasized, that Year of Russia in Azerbaijan has created favorable conditions for the further deepening of the Azeri-Russian relations. The Days of Moscow in Azerbaijan, which will pass in the next year, will serve this noble cause, he emphasized.
