AZREBAIJAN-NATO EXPAND RELATIONS
Azerbaijan implements its obligations it took in the frame of Individual Partnership Program, Mr. Abiyev stressed. The goal is to integrate to European security structures. However, delay of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict impede successful development of Azerbaijan-NTO relations, the minister emphasized.
Robert Simons said NATO appraises achievements reached by Azerbaijan in fulfillment of Individual Partnership Program. The Organization closely watched the processes related to the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh problem. The gust expressed regrets that the efforts do not bring any advance.
Colonel-general Abiyev reminded one of the core principles of the PfP program, that is, respect for territorial integrity of states. But Armenia ignores this principle and also Resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, he underlined. “International organizations should exert pressure on aggressor”.
In meeting, also focused were issues of existing political-military situation on the South Caucasus, the Azerbaijan-NATO relations, and other questions of mutual interest.
