Baku to host Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council meeting

As earlier reported, the second Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council meeting will be held in Baku.
“The progress of the project and the work done will be discussed at the meeting”, Azerbaijan’s energy minister Natig Aliyev said to journalists. “There are a lot of questions to discuss,” Aliyev said. “We will get information about the progress of the project, and what kind of work is left to be done. We will discuss which participating countries have problems with the project implementation on their territories.”
The meeting participants are expected to adopt joint Declaration and make statements for press.
On February 12, Baku hosted the first Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council meeting, during which the issues of further promotion of the project and the problems that may arise in its implementation were discussed.
The Southern Gas Corridor project envisages the transportation of gas from the Caspian region through Georgia and Turkey to Europe. This large project aims at diversifying the routes and sources of energy supply that will enhance energy security of Europe. The Southern Gas Corridor project will ensure Caspian gas supply to the European markets for the first time in history.
