BAVARIAN MPs MEET MEMBERS OF AZERBAIJAN-GERMANY INTER-PARLIAMENTARY WORKING GROUP IN BAKU
Visiting German delegation led by Chairman of the Commission for State Budget and Financial Issues of the Bavarian Parliament Manfred Ach met Friday with members of the Azerbaijan-Germany inter-parliamentary working group in the Milli Majlis (Azeri Parliament).
Asim Mollazade, MP and member of the Working Group informed the delegation of the 90 year-history of the Azerbaijani Parliament, stressing that it had significant role in the development of Azerbaijan’s international relations after the country regained its independence.
He noted documents signed during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Germany established a legal framework for boosting the two countries relations.
Thanks to its purposeful foreign policy, Azerbaijan has become a member of leading international organizations including the UN, OSCE, CoE, and OIC. The country is actively involved in the EU New Neighborhood policy and NATO programs, noted A. Mollazade.
He stressed Azerbaijan is a leader in the region for its economic development.
According to him, Azerbaijan plays a tremendous role in Europe’s energy security participating in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum oil and gas pipelines, as well as Baku-Akhalkalaki-Kars and Nabucco projects.
He also informed the delegation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and stressed that the problem is threatening the security of not only the region but also Europe.
Head of the German delegation Manfred Ach underlined the aim of the visit is to hold talks on cooperation.
The sides also exchanged views on relations between the two countries.
