BHOS hosts Graduation Day

Baku, July 12, AZERTAC

The Baku Higher Oil School of SOCAR (BHOS) hosted another Graduation Day. It was the ninth Graduation Day held at BHOS.

Opening the event with a keynote speech, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov congratulated the graduates on a significant day. He noted that “this year's graduates are working at various industrial enterprises in the country, including those of SOCAR, in foreign companies, private and public institutions, and that “they have been awarded scholarships to continue their studies at prestigious universities around the world.”

“The high results achieved by Baku Higher Oil School are a clear example of the successful implementation of the slogan “We must turn oil capital into human capital!” proclaimed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.”

The rector also noted that like in previous years, this year all BHOS graduates will traditionally be awarded diplomas on Graduation Day.

Speaking at the event, SOCAR Vice President Ziba Mustafayeva noted that BHOS not only provides students with a quality education, but also pays special attention to their employment.

“SOCAR always pays special attention to the development of youth, and the Young Talents Program is one of the important steps taken in this direction. In the 2024/2025 academic year, a total of 320 students graduated from Baku Higher Oil School, 148 of whom were bachelor's degree graduates and 172 - master's degree graduates. 52 students graduated with honors. 142 of the graduates were girls. 24 graduates participated in SOCAR's Young Talents Program.”

It was emphasized that BHOS took a high place in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, despite the fact that it participated in this prestigious ranking for the first time.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Idris Isayev congratulated the graduates and noted that “BHOS has become one of the main higher education institutions in the country in a short span of time.” He emphasized the role of youth in the economic and industrial development of the country, noting that “BHOS has made a significant contribution in this area”.

In their speeches, Ilkana Mehtiyeva, a graduate of the Chemical Engineering Department and the university’s second-best student, and Agshin Yusifzade, a graduate of the Chemical Engineering Department, noted that “BHOS has nurtured them into highly qualified specialists and that “the knowledge and skills they acquired at this university have played an important role in their personal and professional development.” Both graduates thanked their teachers and parents and expressed their willingness to benefit the country and society.

After the speeches, Ismail Mammadzade, the best BHOS graduate of 2025, Student of the Year, graduate of the Information Security Department, engraved his name on a symbolic tree stump.

This was followed by the ceremony of awarding diplomas to graduates. First, diplomas were awarded to the graduates who graduated with honors, became the best students in their specialties. Then, diplomas were awarded to the graduates who were going to join military service. Among those presenting diplomas was Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to our country, Ms. Lu Mei. The ambassador wished the graduates success.

The event then continued with an artistic part.
