BP REPRESENTATIVES VISIT LOCAL MANUFACTURING PLANT
The purpose of the visit was to meet with one of BP’s current contractors, SGB Denholm Ltd., at its workshop on the plant’s site and to evaluate the facilities of the plant itself.
Baki Fahlasi Plant is a part of Azinmash Concern and was known as one of the biggest oilfield equipment manufacturing plants in the former Soviet Union. These days the plant is experiencing an increase in activities and is trying to find its own niche in local and international markets.
One of the plant’s recent successes is its co-operation with SGB Denholm Ltd., a current BP contractor.
SGB Denholm Ltd. leases its fabrication workshops and storage areas from the Baki Fahlasi Plant. One of the main objectives both companies aim for is to improve the workshops and other facilities to European standards.
Another big improvement that has already been achieved is some step changes in safety awareness at the plant, the implementation of safety systems and procedures, improvements in working practices and the acceptance and use of personal protective equipment.
SGB Denholm’s core business expertise is in the provision of a wide range of multi-discipline support services to the oil and gas industry, ranging from conceptual design through development to full implementation for new construction, hook-ups and full fabric maintenance support onshore and offshore.
SGB Denholm and Baki Fahlasi are working together to improve each other’s business profile, as the SGB Denholm business turnover grows and demand for workshop space and storage areas increase, more money is invested into Baki Fahlasi to finance further improvements and to enhance capacity.
