BTC MEP TO BE COMPLETED IN DUE TIME
After change of authority in Georgia, the number of people, doubtfully concerning to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilsi-Erzurum gas pipelines, has considerably increased, AZerTAQj correspondent reports from Tbilisi. So, right after the ceremony of inauguration, where President Michael Saakashvili has made a statement “For the newly elected President of Georgia - the main thing is not oil and gas, but education of youth”, and the block “National movement and democratic front” in the economic program before parliamentary elections has stated that “Projects of delivery of oil and gas have remained in XX century, in XXI century the preference is given to high technologies”, it has caused certain interpretation. In some cases under the pretext that the pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan will damage ecology of Georgia or apartment houses, protest of actions are carried out. So, one of these days, a group of city dwellers of Rustavi has lead a protest action in connection with lining of this pipeline which is taking place close there at home, norms of safety are not observed. Participants of the action, which have joined about 100 families, demand signing the document guaranteeing safety within 40 years, or change the route of the oil pipeline. Participants of the action here were representatives of the International Oil Corporation of Georgia and mayor of Rustavi. They have declared that the issue would be shortly settled in view of interests of the population and the obligations accepted by the state in connection with construction of the oil pipeline. Experts-economists also are sure that the project will be carried out in the stipulated terms. One of the active members of "Common national movement ” the leader of which M. Saakashvili, the head of budgetary office of parliament of Georgia Roman Gosiridze also is convinced that protest actions, complaints of inhabitants in connection with the fact that the BTC project ostensibly represents ecological threat, cannot prevent end of the given project, and after realization of the BTC project, the lining of gas terminal will begin.
