CIS FMs convene in Astana

The Kazakh capital of Astana has hosted another meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers. Azerbaijan`s Deputy FM Khalaf Khalafov attended the meeting.
The council discussed a wide range of issues concerning cooperation of the CIS member states on the international arena.
The Foreign Ministers reviewed the prospects of cooperation in the format of the CIS, preparations to the upcoming meeting of the heads of the CIS member states, and also exchanged views on the issues of international and regional agenda.
The main issues of the agenda of the meeting included approval of a number of draft decisions of the heads of CIS member states on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and fight against international terrorism, as well as the draft appeal of the heads of CIS member states in connection with the 30th anniversary of the disaster at Chernobyl nuke plant. The plan of events on the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth was touched upon among the other issues.
