COMBAT AGAINST ILLEGAL CIRCULATION OF DRUGS UNDERWAY
The same day, Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, colonel-general Ramil Usubov received the delegation headed by the general of militia by Victor Cherkesov.
During the conversation, it has been marked that illegal circulation of drugs gets global character. This kind of criminal activity forms financial base for the organized crime, the international terrorism, corruption, renders serious mental cruelty to society and health of people.
Ramil Usubov has noted that at Azerbaijan and Russia have old kind relations that develop due to the strategic course determined by political will and wisdom of Heydar Aliyev and Vladimir Putin. The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev consistently puts into practice new prospects of the strategic partnership being the bright evidence to political foresight of the national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. Questions of safety and combat against criminality also concern to number of priority spheres of cooperation.
Shortly having informed on the criminal situations in the country and having noted the steady tendency of decrease in criminality, minister Ramil Usubov has told about the organizational - practical measures directed on strengthening of public safety. At the same time, he has emphasized, that special anxiety causes activity of the Armenian separatists on uncontrollable Azerbaijani lands occupied by Armenia where the international terrorist groupings have located, channels of illegal migration, illegal circulation of the weapon and drugs function. About intolerance of such position roughly trampling on conventional principles of international law, Azerbaijan repeatedly stated at the highest international level.
During the meeting, the most effective forms and methods of work of law enforcement bodies of both countries have been discussed a number of priority questions of combat against illegal circulation of narcotics. Also was marked the necessity of increase of potential of the international cooperation in the said direction.
One of such steps was signing of the Memorandum of mutual understanding between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic and Federal Service of the Russian Federation on control over circulation of narcotics and psychotropic substances in which are stipulated information interchange, operational experience, interaction at carrying out of joint actions, and also realization of joint scientific researches on problems of combat against illegal circulation of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
At the meeting, it was decided to launch work on preparation of the interdepartmental cooperation agreement in combat against illegal circulation of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
