COMMUNICATION SYSTEM MARKED ITS 85TH ANNIVERSARY

A meeting dedicated to the 85th anniversary of this structure’s establishment was held in the Ministry of Communication on September 15. Minister of Communication Nadir Ahmadov, told of the history of communication the system of in Azerbaijan saying its founding coincided with the period of living of Shah Ismail Khatai. The first telephone communications center in the Azerbaijan Republic, according to him, was created in 1880, while in 1887 the first automatic telephone system was built.

Dwelling on the work, implemented after 1995, the Minister said for the time being there were 2 million telephone subscribers in the country, million of which are mobile phone users. Azerbaijan holds the first place on 14 showings among the CIS countries.

MM First Deputy Chairman Arif Rahimzadeh congratulated communication workers on the jubilee.

The meeting participants have acquainted themselves with the museum displaying development of communication services in the country.
