Communiqué and Joint Statement of GUAM PA, the Baltic Assembly and parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Poland adopted
The 7th meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) was held in Chisinau, Moldova.
The meeting was attended by MPs from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, the Baltic countries, Poland and representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation, Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries and Visegrad Group.
At the meeting, Azerbaijan is represented by a delegation led MP Elton Mammadov.
Participants of the meeting adopted a Communiqué and Joint Statement of GUAM PA, the Baltic Assembly and parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Poland, which is available at the website of GUAM Secretariat: http://guam-organization.org/node/1651.
In the Communiqué, it is emphasized that GUAM, strengthening solidarity of the GUAM member states, their readiness essentially and consistently to defend common interests, and also support of each other on the international arena are the priorities. GUAM PA expressed extreme concern in connection with delay of the conflicts on GUAM space and reminded the obligation of the states for non-interference to internal affairs of other state.
The Parliamentary Assembly expresses confidence that settlement of the conflicts on GUAM space, has to be carried out only on the basis of respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of the UN member states, and without any external influence. The state territory, the document notes, can't be object to acquisition or the military occupation which is the result of threat of force or its application violating the relevant provisions of international law.
No territorial acquisitions as a result of military operations or any pressure can be recognized lawful under any circumstances.
The Parliamentary Assembly will further do everything depending on it to consolidate support of the position of GUAM on the international arena.
The decision on time and place of the next (8th) meeting of GUAM PA in 2015 will be coordinated and announced through diplomatic channels.
