CONFERENCE DEVOTED TO AZERBAIJAN HELD IN PARIS
The Conference with opening address was opened by ambassador Bernard Doran, then with reports have acted Emil Karimov, graduate of University of Paris- 4, on the topic “Historical heritage of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic”, the employee of School of Political Researches Patrick Dombrovski - “Azerbaijan and its geo-politic environment”, the president of the France-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce Jean Rorer - “Azerbaijan - on crossroads of large trans-border projects”, the editor-in-chief of magazine "Kollizie" Erve Kohl - “Unresolved conflicts on the Southern Caucasus”, the employee of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oreli Bonel - “Role of the European Union on Southern Caucasus”, the general director of the Center of Studying of the Countries, Promotion to development and strategic researches Jean – Ivie Chevalier - “Prospects of Azerbaijan in the context of new international balance”, the first secretary of the embassy of Azerbaijan Masim Mammadov - “Modern threats and the Euro-Atlantic cooperation”.
In the reports and remarks, it has been especially underlined that Azerbaijan as the unique country in region of Southern Caucasus, possessing by the important superiority from the geo-politic point of view, rich power resources, in particular, in the field of extraction and export of oil, plays important role in the region, value of the oil pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, the escalating role of the European Union on Southern Caucasus, from the point of view of integration into this structure, development of economic and other spheres - rapprochement of Azerbaijan with the European countries, etc.
Speakers also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorny Karabakh conflict, have emphasized, that radically this conflict territorial claims of the Armenians, living a chimera about creation of "Great Armenia”, and that the countries of the world and the international structures support territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. It has been marked that as a result of replacement of the Armenians moved in the beginning of XIX century from Iran and Turkey in Nagorny Karabakh, in this region from the demographic point of view, the majority is made by Armenians, that Khojali genocide is tragedy of XX century, value of the statements made in connection with the conflict by the President of Azerbaijan by Ilham Aliyev during his visit to France under the invitation of the President of this country of Jacques Chirak.
The first ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Jean Pierre on the map of our country shown in connection with the event, has touched some moments, has specified number of Azerbaijanis in the world.
Then, debate on the topic have taken place, detailed answers to numerous questions have been given.
In summary, ambassador Ms. Eleonora Huseynova, summing up the conference, thanked participants for interesting and substantial statements.
Employees of the diplomatic corps accredited in Paris, representatives of the French public, researchers, members of the Azerbaijan Diaspora, journalists and our students receiving education in higher educational institutions of this country have taken part in work of the Conference.
