CONSTRUCTION GATHERS MOMENTUM
During the last month, BTC opened over 174km of the Right of Way - the designated route of the pipeline - welded 169km of pipe joints and backfilled 136km of the pipeline. Just 15% of the 1,768km Right of Way is left to be opened. Ilham Aliyev, president of Azerbaijan, visited pump station PSA2 near Yevlakh, which is now over 75% complete. BTC made good progress at river crossings in Azerbaijan, finishing auger boring under the Kur River-East and restoring vegetation at the Kushkar Chai River. In Turkey, a third welding crew was mobilized for work in Lot B and in Lot A the rate of trenching and backfill work increased with the arrival of new excavation equipment.
