CUSTOMS COMMITTEE HEAD MEETS WITH UN RESIDENT COORDINATOR
Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Customs Committee (SCC), Lieutenant General Aydin Aliyev met 23 February with UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Marco Borsotti, according to SCC’s press service. He said the Project Document on Capacity-Building of the State Customs Committee signed between UNDP and the Government of Azerbaijani in 1999 has an extremely positive impact on the development of customs services in terms of establishing a customs data transmission network in the country. Mr. Aliyev announced that a working group consisting of experienced specialists of the Committee had been established to ensure realization of the joint UNDP-EU-SCC project aiming to bring the current Customs Code to conformity with the Kyoto Convention. Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Marco Borsotti promised that the UNDP will continue to promote development of information and communication technologies sector in the customs system and expressed confidence in further enhancing of cooperation. Following the conversation, Aydin Aliyev presented the badge with the legend “For enhancing customs cooperation” on to Marco Borsotti.
