Distinguished Visitors Day held at “EFES-2026” exercise

An Azerbaijani delegation on a working visit to Türkiye attended the Distinguished Visitors Day of the multinational joint “EFES-2026” exercise held in the Doğanbey area of Izmir, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.
Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, Army General Metin Tokel, delivered a briefing on the overall course of the exercise, the objectives of the assigned tasks, and the sequence of their execution.
The “EFES-2026” exercise features the first-time deployment of T625 GÖKBEY helicopters, 105 mm BORAN towed howitzers, MEMATT mine-clearing systems, KARAOK, UMTAS, and L-UMTAS anti-tank missile systems, as well as ASLAN SARP UKKS unmanned ground reconnaissance and fire support systems.
Addressing the event, Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler emphasized the importance of such exercises and wished success to the participating servicemen.
In his remarks, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed the participants of the Distinguished Visitors Day and stressed that the “EFES-2026” exercise makes a significant contribution to regional and global peace, security, and stability.
The participating units then carried out various tactical scenarios.
The high-level guests also observed demonstration flights by aviation assets, parachute jumps performed by special operations personnel, and performances by the Mehteran Unit.
Guests attending the Defense Industry Exhibition organized as part of the Distinguished Visitors Day also viewed displays of military weapons and equipment.
The professionalism demonstrated by Azerbaijan Army servicemen participating in the international exercise was highly appreciated.
