EMBASSY OF GERMANY TO AZERBAIJAN SIGNED TWO INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENTS
Finance Minister Avaz Alakbarov and Health Minister Ali Insanov participated at the ceremony.
Having pointed out to high economic growth rates of Azerbaijan, ambassador of Germany Klaus Grewlich noted that his country interested in overall deepening of bilateral relations. Speaking on the purposes of agreements ambassador stressed that in accordance with the agreement signed with the Ministry of Finance Development and Investment Society of Germany had obtained 23,7 percent of shares of the Azerbaijan Micro-finance Bank. He mentioned that under the skillful management of Thomas Engelhard, the bank has allotted $5,3 million credit to 2793 local entrepreneurs and 1000 of them have been repaid to the bank.
According to K. Grewlich, the major purpose of health agreement is to support actions towards combat against tuberculosis thereto government of Germany granted €3 million.
Having noted the significance of development of non-oil sectors of economy ambassador said, “ until now government of Germany has assigned €270 million to Azerbaijan and €130 million out of which is given as grants through the European Union while €108 million – within the frames of bilateral cooperation in financial sphere. Non-oil sectors of economy are priority directions in the bilateral cooperation”
Minister of Finances Avaz Alakbarov thanked the ambassador for efforts towards development of relations between the two countries. He noted that due to right policy of the leadership of Azerbaijan the country has consolidated its position in the international financial market showing itself as creditworthy partner. “The Government of Azerbaijan fulfills undertaken commitments. Rating of creditworthiness of Azerbaijan increased mainly due to success of economic reforms” – minister said.
Then, Health Minister Ali Insanov noted that there are 15 thousand consumptives in Azerbaijan and no epidemic unlike Russia and Kazakhstan.
In accordance with the agreement, within the frames of the World Health Organization’s conception on fight against tuberculosis German Government has assigned funds to Azerbaijan that would have positive impact on implementation of the governmental program on mass prophylaxis and treatment of tuberculosis.
