EU, AZERBAIJAN: EXCHANGE OF VIEWS ON DEVELOPMENT OF RELATIONS
At the meeting, exchanged were views on cooperation between Azerbaijan and OSCE, process of the peace talks directed on settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, social and economic reforms carried out in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the achieved successes, about successfully realized large-scale transport and power projects, the status of Caspian and on other questions, press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Minister E. Mammadyarov, having brought to attention of visitors the meetings carried out by him with officials of the European Union in Brussels, and during his participation in 115th session of the Ministerial Committee of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, informed on the discussions connected to the beginning of negotiations on the plan of activity between Azerbaijan and the European Union within the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy, and also on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and, as a whole, on the situation in region of Southern Caucasus. The Minister has told that negotiations in connection with the plan of activity on cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, probably, would take place current year.
Answering the questions connected to the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Minister has in detail informed on present process of peace talks, has emphasized, that liberation of all the occupied territories and returning of refugees and IDPs to their native lands are the important factor in settlement of the conflict in peace way. The Minister has noted, that at present change of the borders recognized at the international level by force way is inadmissible.
Pierre Chevalier has expressed hope that the planned meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Ljubljana would end positively.
Speaking about economic achievements of the country, the visitor has carried out wide exchange of opinions on prospects of this development.
During discussions, also were focused issues of safety of large-scale power projects being realized in region.
Then, Minister E. Mammadyarov has informed visitors on accomplishments in other branches of national economy, on development of petro-chemistry, construction, in particular, agriculture, application of soft loans, agro leasing, etc.
At the meeting, also discussed were a number of other questions representing mutual interest.
